Stars show quick bounce-back with 3-2 win in Kindersley
It may still just be pre-season, but the Battlefords North Stars showed an ability to bounce-back quickly Wednesday night, with a 3-2 win in Kindersley to close out their four-games in four-nights road swing at 3-1, with just one more game to go on the exhibition schedule.
Both teams came out flying to start the game, combining for 36 shots in the first period alone (21-15 BAT), though at the end of the first, Zakery Anderson’s first of two on the night was the lone to hit paydirt, to give the Klippers a 1-0 lead on home ice.
Following a scoreless first half of the second, the Stars did answer back, however, as forward Bailey Shortall wired home a quick wrister from the top of the left circle just six seconds into a Battlefords’ power play to make it 1-1.
In the third period, Lleyton McLean cashed in for his second of the pre-season just 45 seconds in to give the Stars their first lead of the night, with another quick strike just under two minutes later from Jordan Grill coming shorthanded, to serve as the eventual game-winner.
