Council to discuss new drone for fire department, flooding study

Sep 11, 2023 | 10:50 AM

North Battleford’s Fire Department is looking to purchase a drone to help with emergency situations.

That’s one of the discussions the city’s council is set to have when they meet on Monday.

The cost is expected to be over $18,000 with the Fire Department planning to use funding they received in the 2023 budget.

Also, up for discussion is a roughly $80,000 flood study in the Parsons Industrial Park.

Earlier this spring, the city hired a company to clear and regrade two drainage ditches and clear the area around two catch basins, however, flooding was still an issue in some parts of the area.

The city’s administration recommends council approve the study to help fix the issue.

A presentation is also scheduled to happen about the 2024 Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association’s 55+ Games.

North Battleford is hosting the competition next June.

Meanwhile, also up for discussion are changes to the city’s emergency plan and arena usage policy.

Council’s meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
