Police arrest driver of vehicle after two passengers killed

Police have arrested and charged one man with impaired driving causing death after a vehicle rollover on Little Pine First Nation last weekend.

Officers with the Cut Knife RCMP, Little Pine Security, and paramedics responded after a truck rolled over in the north ditch on Centre Road around 4:34 a.m. on Saturday.

Two passengers, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were declared deceased on the scene. Next of kin were notified and provided with support from Victim Services.

Tyson Anthony Cardinal, 25, the driver of the vehicle was later arrested and charged with operation of a conveyance while impaired by alcohol causing death, and operation of a conveyance having blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mgs. He was assessed on scene for his injuries and later taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
