Jun 21, 2023 | 10:01 AM

Police are asking for the public’s help after a woman was assaulted by an armed man at a home on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation (MGBHLM).

On Monday at about 10 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an assault.

After investigating, police determined a man armed with a firearm assaulted a woman at the home. The woman was able to leave and call for help. She reported suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team searched the home for the man, but couldn’t find him.

Kelly McDonald, 37, from the First Nation is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

McDonald is described as approximately 5-foot-11 and weighs 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Police said they provided a recent photo of the suspect but his hair may be a bit longer than shown.

He may be driving an orange, 1985 Chevrolet truck with a short box/bed.

If anyone sees McDonald they should call police and not approach him.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
