RCMP arrest wanted man in Witchekan Lake First Nation

May 12, 2023 | 3:20 PM

Saskatchewan RCMP said they have arrested a man who fled from police following a dangerous incident in Spiritwood over a month ago.

Back on March 30, RCMP were called to a home in the area for reports of a gun being fired. Officers searched the community and found the suspect’s vehicle at a nearby business.

One man, Tyson Starblanket, was arrested without incident but another man, Melvin Starblanket, fled from police.

On Wednesday, the Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) were at Witchekan Lake First Nation investigating Melvin’s whereabouts. He was found in an RV parked in front of a home.

During the investigation, officers also found Aaron Scott, 40, who was wanted by Spiritwood RCMP for charges including failure to appear in court.

Both men were scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Friday.
