Human remains found on Big Island Lake Cree Territory
For the second time in three weeks, human remains have been found in the area of the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
On April 21, the Pierceland RCMP started an investigation after remains were found in the Big Island Lake Cree Nation’s landfill.
Last Wednesday, Mounties from the same detachment got a call that human remains had been found near a residence on the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
“With assistance from the North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Services, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, local Search and Rescue Teams, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, the human remains were recovered for further investigation,” the RCMP said in a media release. “An RCMP Forensic Anthropologist has been engaged to assist with identifying the remains.”
