North Stars to hold Championship Celebration today

The Battlefords North Stars capped off their playoff run with an SJHL Championship over the weekend in Flin Flon, topping the rival Flin Flon Bombers in four-straight games for their third championship since 2017.

Now, to celebrate, the team is inviting the community to come out and take part in a special Championship Celebration tonight (April 26) from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Access Communications Centre (Civic Centre) in North Battleford.

Marketing and office manager with the North Stars, Kennedy Schmidt said the team is looking forward to having fans, family, and friends come out to share in the joy of the championship celebration.

“The community really rallied to get us there to Flin Flon and cheered us on, so it’s going to mean a lot to celebrate with them now [after winning on the road],” Schmidt said.

A burger and a drink will be available for $5, with a special signed photo of the team following their championship win also available for purchase for $5.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the team’s trip to Portage, Man., to compete for a National Championship at the Centennial Cup.
