Ice Wolves postpone Thursday and Friday games against North Stars

Nov 23, 2022 | 11:15 AM

The Battleford North Stars have announced the hockey games for this Thursday and Friday have been postponed. They were scheduled to play La Ronge Ice Wolves at the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford.

The postponed games are because of sickness and injuries with La Ronge Ice Wolves players. In a post on their social media accounts, the Ice Wolves say they have also cancelled tonight’s game in Humboldt.

“Due to a combination of sickness and injuries, our games in Humboldt (Wednesday, November 23rd) and North Battleford (Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th) have been postponed.”

The postponed games are not related to repairs to the condenser at the Access Communications Centre. City officials say the arena will open Thursday as scheduled. Last weekend, the North Stars played their home games in Wilkie and Battleford while the ACC was closed for repairs.

In a Facebook post, the North Stars thank the City of North Battleford ice plant staff. They say the staff are working overtime to get the ice plant back up and running at the Access Communications Centre.

The SJHL announced on Wednesday that all three games have makeup dates announced. The Ice Wolves will head to the Elgar Petersen Arena on Dec. 14 to make up Wednesday’s game against the Humboldt Broncos. The Ice Wolves will make up their games against the Battlefords North Stars on Jan. 4 and Jan. 24 at the Access Communications Centre.
