$50,000 donation to expand and upgrade heath training lab at North West College
Healthcare students at North West College in North Battleford will be getting a better quality training facility thanks to a $50,000 donation from Cenovus Energy. The money will be used to increase the size of the lab from four beds to ten, and to equip the learning centre with state-of-the-art technology.
The upgrade will include what is described as a “high fidelity” room. The training room and interactive mannequins will provide real-time feedback to the students training on them. Instructors can provide students with dozens of real-life scenarios in real-time.
Psychiatric Nursing, Practical Nursing, Continuing Care Assistant, and the Registered Nursing program will use the new lab.
Increasing the lab’s capacity will allow North West College to accept more students to help meet Saskatchewan’s demand for more healthcare professionals. Enrollment for psychiatric nurses has already increased from 16 to 24 students per year.
