Battlefords RCMP responded to 534 calls for service between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1. Among the calls, police are investigating 27 assaults, including three stemming from Halloween.

The first happened around 7:00 a.m. on Oct. 31. Police were responding to a report of a man sleeping in a car on 100 St. in North Battleford. They came across a 35-year-old man from Regina who had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was also in possession of a small amount of Methamphetamine.

Jesse Gray was placed under arrest. Later, he became violent during a remand hearing. Gray now faces two charges of assaulting a police officer and a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

In the second incident, police were called shortly after 8:00 p.m. to the 1300 block of 104 St. for what RCMP is describing as a serious assault. After arriving, police found a man with significant injuries to his hands and head caused by an edged weapon. The victim was transported to the hospital by a North Battleford community officer. He is still in the hospital, and in stable condition.

RCMP say they searched a nearby residence in connection to this assault but no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Halloween, police received a call of an assault in progress. When officers got to the 1200 block of 97 St. in North Battleford, they found a 30-year-old man with cuts to his neck and wrists. A 28-year-old-woman is charged with assault with a weapon in this incident. She will appear in court on Dec. 1.

Among the hundreds of other calls for service, Battlefords RCMP responded to 93 disturbance calls, 15 mental health-related calls, and 11 traffic collisions.
