RCMP investigating attempted carjacking through staged accident near Mudie Lake

Oct 28, 2022 | 6:11 PM

Pierceland RCMP is investigating an attempted carjacking in which the driver was reportedly threatened with a machete.

Around 6 a.m. on Oct. 27, the victim was driving on Highway 21 near Mudie Lake when they saw a black compact SUV stopped on the road and a man laying on the ground nearby.

After stopping and getting out of the vehicle, the man lying on the ground got up and threatened the driver with a machete and demanded the keys to their vehicle.

A second man also approached the man, assaulting them, and again asked for the keys.

The driver was also robbed but was able to get back into their vehicle and drive away.

The two men were last seen driving north on Highway 21 toward Pierceland in the SUV.

One was described as wearing jeans and a black hoodie, while the other was described as being around 5’11 with a thin build and dark-coloured eyes. The second suspect was also wearing a black hoodie and a black neck warmer pulled up over his mouth and nose.

If you spot these men, the black compact SUV, or a potential staged accident, do not approach and instead contact RCMP at 306-839-3330 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
