FSIN calls on RCMP to further investigate Creighton golf course death

Oct 26, 2022 | 1:07 PM

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is requesting RCMP further investigate the death of Tristin Jobb, 25, at the Phantom Lake Golf Club in Creighton.

She died after being discovered in medical distress on Oct. 6.

Val Charlette, Jobb’s mother, filed a complaint with the FSIN’s Special Investigations Unit to call for RCMP to investigate the death more thoroughly.

“Tristin was very active in the LGBTQ community and the loss of her matters a great deal to us. I realize there is a lot going on in that area right now, and I do not believe that my daughter’s death has been taken seriously from the start,” Charlette wrote in a statement.

“Contrary to the coroner’s report, I believe her death was suspicious — we saw comments on Facebook that she was seen in different places with different people. We are frustrated that nothing is being done, and our family is seeking a full investigation into her death as well as communication from the RCMP.”

Chief Karen Bird of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation echoed those sentiments.

“I am always in full support of the family because I would want answers, too. The family needs this support from FSIN and the RCMP needs to conduct a full investigation into what happened to her,” Bird said.

FSIN Vice Chief Aly Bear also noted “it defies logic that a woman dying in the middle of a golf course is not considered suspicious.”

paNOW has reached out to RCMP for comment.
