One person injured after being shot following stolen truck

UPDATE: On Dec. 2, Pierceland RCMP reported they have charged 33-year-old Marina Dawn Smith. She is facing several charges in connection to this incident.

The charges include robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and multiple counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order.

Smith is currently in custody in Alberta and will appear in court at a later date.

RCMP are looking for information from the public after a man was injured trying to chase down a stolen truck near Pierceland.

Police say that on the evening of Oct. 12, a pickup truck and livestock trailer were stolen from a rural property. Two people witnessed the theft and followed the truck as it travelled westbound on highway 55.

The people in the stolen truck shot at the pursuing vehicle, hitting it. One of the witnesses was injured and required treatment for a non-life-threatening injury in the hospital.

The truck and trailer were recovered later in Alberta. RCMP are looking for any information about this incident, or the people responsible. Those with information are asked to call Pierceland RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
