For the second week in a row, gunfire has struck a home in North Battleford. This time, multiple rounds were fired into a vacant home and a nearby occupied residence was struck by a single bullet.

Police believe the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, in the 1500 Block of 105 St. Nobody was injured, and police continue to investigate this latest incident. In two separate incidents, on Oct. 8 and 11, a home in the 2400 block of 100th Street was struck with multiple rounds. There were no injuries in those two shootings.

Overall, the police appear to have had a busy week. They responded to 37 assaults between Oct. 12 and 18. Of note, an officer was assaulted while trying to arrest a 29-year-old man at a disturbance call on Saulteaux First Nation, on October 14.

Jesse Katcheech was wanted on outstanding warrants and now faces new charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a release order.

On Oct. 15, police received a 911 call from a woman, but the call was disconnected. When police arrived at the residence in Battleford, they found a woman with an injury to her face. They also found a 25-year-old man who now faces charges of assault, forcible confinement, sexual assault, breach of probation, and failing to comply with a release order.

On Oct. 12 a woman was confronted at a business on 100 St. in North Battleford for trying to leave with unpaid merchandise. She struck somebody in the face with a Red Bull can. 27-year-old Miriam Myo now faces charges of assault with a weapon, mischief, and breach of probation.

Other calls for the week include 94 disturbance calls, seven break-and-enters, and three calls for stolen vehicles.
