Police arrest teen after finding concealed firearm

In their weekly media release, Battlefords RCMP are reporting that around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, they received several calls about people yelling and possibly fighting on 33 Street in Battleford. When police arrived, they found three individuals still in the area. As they continued the investigation, a 17-year-old was found to have a concealed gun.

Battlefords RCMP Sgt. Neil Tremblay says it is always alarming to find people carrying a hidden weapon. “Fortunately, the firearm was never brandished or used in a threatening manner in this case. But it is always a concern when you find a concealed weapon, a concealed firearm on someone.”

The teen faces firearms-related charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, along with breach of probation.
