The Battlefords North Stars took home a 4-0 win over the Lloyd Bobcats in Lloydminster Friday, to improve to 4-0-1 this pre-season, with just a game to go on their exhibition schedule.

Goaltender, Lowen Kenyon led the way for the Stars, stopping all 32 shots he faced for the shutout performance, while Joel Webb, Nikolas Smolinski, Riley Girod, and Keiton Klein each added a goal in the victory.

Webb and Smolinski’s goals came just under two minutes apart midway through the first, to give the Stars a 2-0 lead at the end of 20 minutes, on the first of the pre-season for both players.

Girod’s second of the exhibition season extended the lead to 3-0 on a power play in the second, set up by Gibbs and Bear with just seven minutes to go in the frame.

In the third, veteran Keiton Klein put the victory on ice with his third of the pre-season from Smolinski, who picked up his second point of the night, making it a 4-0 final for the Stars.

Bobcats’ goalie, Freddie Halyk stopped 22 of 26 North Stars’ shots in the loss.

Saturday (tomorrow) the North Stars will trade their hockey sticks in for golf clubs for the team’s annual North Stars Golf Classic at Jackfish Lodge and Conference Centre. The team will then return to action for their final pre-season game Sunday, facing Lloydminster again – this time in North Battleford – to wrap the pre-season.

The North Stars will open their regular season next weekend, with a home-and-home against the rival Kindersley Klippers. The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcasts on 1050 CJNB will begin with the start of the regular season.
