A second man is now dealing with a charge related to a July 17 attack caught on video in Battleford.

Dane Lesmeister, 19, is facing a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, RCMP confirmed on Friday.

He is scheduled to appear at North Battleford provincial court on Sept. 19 to enter a plea, according to the court office.

Battlefords RCMP Sgt. Neil Tremblay said in an email to battlefordsNOW that only two people are facing charges in the case at this time.

Co-accused Adam Lesmeister, 46, of Battleford, is charged with assault in the incident. He is also due back in court later this month.

Police said they responded to a complaint of an assault on 17th Street East in Battleford at the time of the incident.

The initial investigation found that a man was approached by three men he did not know. One of the three men allegedly assaulted him; all three left the area before officers arrived. The victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) issued a statement following the incident, calling the attack racially motivated.
