COVID levels rising quickly in P.A. & slowly in North Battleford: study

COVID levels are continuing to rise in Prince Albert.

According to the University of Saskatchewan which continues to study the virus through the community’s wastewater to determine how prevalent it is, the current levels are around 100 per cent higher than the weekly average.

The viral load is the seventh largest recorded since the start of the year and the largest found over the past 18 weeks.

Levels in North Battleford are also on the rise, but not as much as P.A.

While the current viral load is the largest recorded in the city over the past 13 weeks, it’s just the eighteenth largest since the start of the year. Since levels are more than double the average from the past 10 weeks, they’re considered large.

Saskatoon, the third city included in the study, is seeing its levels closely resemble P.A.’s.

They’re up roughly 78 per cent from the weekly average. They’re also the seventh largest recorded since the start of the year, just like P.A., and the largest found over the past 16 weeks.

Meanwhile, the Omicron sub-variant BA.5 is the most dominant strain found in North Battleford and Saskatoon, while BA.2 is the largest in P.A.
