Back alley milling and re-paving contract awarded for best price

K&S Asphalt Services Ltd. picked up the contract for the City of North Battleford’s 2022 back alley milling and asphalt re-paving project.

Administration recommended council award the project to the firm for work between 99th and 100th Streets, from 11th Avenue and north as far as the budget would take.

Two offers were received in response to the city’s request for proposals. The K&S proposal came in with the lowest bid for the most linear work.

The project is within the city’s 2022 budgeted amount of $160,000.

K&S submitted a bid of $141,450 for 2,886 square metres of work or four blocks (11th to 15th Avenues), while G&C Asphalt Services Ltd. offered a bid of $144,760 for 2,002 square metres of work or three blocks (11th to 14th Avenues).

The city noted K&S also successfully completed last year’s project for back alley work, which was between 100th and 101st Streets, from 11th to 13th Avenues.

Mayor David Gillan said in summary the K&S offer had “the lowest bid and the greatest amount of work that can be achieved for that dollar value.”
