A pair of North Battleford Boxers are representing Saskatchewan this week in southern Ontario.

Sixteen-year-old, Daltan Gerstenhofer, and 14-year-old, Faizan Dar, who are members at Four Corner Boxing in North Battleford, will compete for the provincial team at the 2022 Brampton Cup.

The Brampton Cup is Canada’s largest amateur boxing tournament, now in its 39th year, and will run July 21-24, featuring a number of top competitors in the sport from across the nation.

Coach at Four Corner Boxing, Dylin Curiston, will be traveling as a coach with Team Sask., and said he is looking forward to seeing what the pair can do on their biggest stage yet.

“Both these boys have been training very hard for this, and being selected to compete with the provincial team is a big step in their development,” Curiston said. “The tournament itself has more than 600 boxers, so it’s the biggest boxing tournament in North America in quite a long time, and will be a good event that’s going to test both of their abilities.”

While this week’s tournament will mark their biggest stage yet, both Gerstenhofer and Dar enter the competition with some big bout experience under their belts.

Each took home a gold medal in their age group at the Alberta Golden Gloves Championship in late April.
