RCMP Report: Break-ins continue, possible connections

Jul 8, 2022 | 11:00 AM

Police in the Battlefords continue to investigate possible connections between multiple thefts in the area.

There were more than 30 investigations in the previous two and a half weeks, a few of which resulted in arrests.

On June 27, a break and enter was reported at a home on the 1400 block of 93rd St. in the evening. Later that night, a 47-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested and charged after being found with stolen property relating to this break-in. A search warrant was also executed on the suspect’s home the following date and additional charges may be coming.

“We’ve been able to link them to some of the other B-and-E’s we have listed,” Sgt. Neil Tremblay said. “So, we’re expecting additional charges.”

Two days prior, a 49-year-old man was arrested in relation to a break and enter to a business on Railway Avenue East. The accused has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court later this summer.

Other reported break and enter investigations include:

  • A business compound on Thatcher Ave at 10:30 p.m. on June 22. A witness reported a man wearing a garbage bag over a green hoodie attempting to steal tools, who then fled prior to police arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
  • A business on the 1400 block of 100th St., sometime from June 24-26. Entry was gained through a window and some surveillance equipment and food were stolen.
  • A business near Battleford early Sunday morning. A truck, trailer and Kubota Lawnmower were reported stolen, but the truck has since been recovered.
  • A business compound on Pioneer Ave over the weekend. Catalytic converters were removed from two vehicles.
  • A garage on the 1600 block of 104th St. on June 25. The male suspect is described as wearing a red Jordan’s Flat brimmed hat with a gold sticker on the brim, a black hoodie, a gold chain around his neck and baggy distressed blue jeans.
  • A garage on the 1800 block of 96th St. earlier in the morning on June 26. A silver bike was among the items reported stolen.
  • A garage on the 1100 block of 110th St. at 8:30 p.m. on June 27, where two bikes were reported stolen.
  • A residence on the 500 block of 104th St. late on Canada Day. There were two male suspects, both described as wearing a mask, with one reported to be wearing a black hoody with mustard yellow sleeves. They both fled when confronted by a resident prior to gaining entry.

Police are also looking into two vehicle thefts. One is a grey 2003 Ford Escape (Sask License 234-LDD) reported stolen from Twin Lakes Road near Delmas, during the evening of June 27 or early morning of June 28. The other is a white 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 (Sask License 714-MQG) stolen from a rural location off Highway 658 on June 23.
