Jun 23, 2022 | 10:04 AM

Battlefords RCMP are looking for two suspects from a reported assault with a machete on Moosomin First Nation.

Saturday evening, a man in his 40s was giving a ride to two people he knew, before an altercation occurred where he suffered injuries to his hands from the use of the machete. The pair then stole his vehicle, which was recovered later that evening.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said the victim is expected to make a full recovery and the investigation remains ongoing, with several interviews and statements to go through.

“It wasn’t a hitchhiker scenario, there was other people in the area at the time, including another passenger,” he said.

“Two suspects we’re pretty firm in terms of identifying, but there’s still witnesses that we’re looking at and we haven’t been able to track down those two suspects yet.”

Tremblay said the victim has recovered.

“It was either a glancing blow or didn’t have a large amount of force,” he said. “Either way, she’s reportedly fine.”
