RCMP Report P1: Missing teens, break-in warrants

Jun 16, 2022 | 9:05 AM

Battlefords RCMP are searching for two teens from the region that were reported missing this week.

Reported missing shortly after midnight on Monday, 15-year-old Shayden Swiftwolfe was last seen on Moosomin First Nation. He’s described as slim, 5’8”, 145 lbs, with brown eyes and long brown hair. Swiftwolfe was last seen wearing black pants, black shoes and a grey hoodie.

Seventeen year-old Niyanan Badger, reported missing on Tuesday, was last seen on the 1600 block of 102nd St in North Battleford early Sunday evening. She is described as slim, 5’4”, 110lbs, with brown eyes and medium length brown hair.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said the detachment doesn’t have much history with either teen.

“We’re just hoping to find them quickly [due to their age],” he said.

Tremblay added that they are working to get photos of them. Both are believed to still be in the area. Anyone with information on either Swiftwolfe or Badger’s whereabouts can contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

The detachment also reported on Wednesday that 25-year-old Tracy Wright had been located.

Break and enter investigations

While the number of break-ins reported in the past week were slightly down, Battlefords RCMP still had multiple incidents under investigation, including one that required arrest warrants.

Police responded to a reported break and enter on Mosquito First Nation Sunday morning, where two suspects allegedly assaulted one of the occupants of a residence. They were located in a vehicle that evening, but fled and were not apprehended.

As a results, warrants have been issued for 20-year-old Dennis “Gunner” Higgs and 18-year-old Walker Higgs. They are both charged with breaking and entering, mischief, assault and possession of stolen property. Gunner Higgs was also charged with flight and dangerous driving.

Tremblay noted that both parties were known to each other and that the Higgs brothers have a history with police.

The detachment also responded to a break-in at a residence in the Cochin District around 7:30 p.m. on June 8. A 33-year-old male from Leask, SK was arrested a short distance away by members and is scheduled for court on June 20, facing charges of breaking and entering and possession of stolen property.

“He does have a history outside of the detachment area, but that’s the first time we’ve dealt with him,” Tremblay said.

Other break and enter investigations include:

  • A business on the 800 block of 106th St. from early Monday morning, where a large number of hand tools and power tools were reported stolen.
  • A residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation from Sunday, where a Television was reported stolen.
  • A residence on the 2000 block of 97th St. from over the weekend, where items like food and beverages were reported stolen.

There’s also one active vehicle theft investigation for a grey 2008 Pontiac Montana (Sask License 903-MLD), reported stolen from the 1300 block of 98th St. on Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone with information on any incident can contact the Battlefords RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
