Significant cocaine and weapons haul seized in North Battleford

Battlefords RCMP have charged three people and seized drugs and weapons after the execution of a search warrant in North Battleford.

On Thursday, the local Gang Task Force carried out the search warrant on the 1000 block of 113th Street in relation to an ongoing investigation. Officers located and seized two illegally-modified firearms, including a semi-automatic model, a loaded handgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a conducted energy device and body armour. They also seized 359 grams of cocaine, trafficking paraphernalia and a sum of cash that hasn’t been disclosed.

The three individuals, were arrested at the residence and charged with numerous criminal offences, particularly weapon and trafficking related charges.

Among the charges faced by 26-year-old Eastin Louis of North Battleford, 23-year-old Jarod Dumais, and 18-year-old Trevor Auger of Edmonton are:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime valued at over $5,000;
  • Three counts of nauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon;
  • Four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition and without a license/registration.

Dumais faces an additional count of possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition and without a license/registration.

Louis and Auger also face:

  • Four counts of possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon while knowing that possession is prohibited;
  • Four counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order and failing to surrender it.

In a release, Sgt. Adam Buckingham of the Battlefords Municipal General Investigation Section (GIS) said this is was a significant arrest and seizure in removing more than a third of a kilogram of cocaine, as well as illegal weapons, from the streets.

“I hope this sends a message: we will not tolerate the presence of dangerous weapons and drugs in our community,” he said. “Battlefords RCMP, Gang Task Force and Municipal GIS officers will continue to proactively and relentlessly investigate those who disregard our community’s safety.”

Other units assisting in the investigation included the Battlefords Provincial GIS, Police Dog Services and Critical Incident Response Team.

Louis, Dumais and Auger appeared in court on Monday.
