Three men charged with gun, cocaine possession

Battlefords RCMP landed multiple arrests and a large cocaine seizure following a traffic stop on May 5.

Officers first received a report earlier that day of an erratic driver on Highway 16. Following the subsequent stop and search, they located and seized a handgun and approximately 112 grams of cocaine.

As a result, 33-year-old Troy Amson and 35-year-old Steven Vu from Maidstone, and 33-year-old Devin Bonick from Lloydminster each face multiple offences. This includes:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Authorized possession of a firearm;
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle;
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm.

Vu is also was charged with resisting/obstructing a peace officer and operation of a conveyance while prohibited.

The pair will appear in Battleford Provincial Court on June 6.
