A Battlefords fundraising tradition like no other is almost here..

“On Air for Health Care” is set to air on Q98, 93.3 The Rock and CJNB next month. Presented by Fishers Drug Store, the 12 hour radiothon will run on May 13, raising funds for the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation.

This year’s theme is “when every minute matters” with donations going towards the purchase of life saving equipment for Emergency Room staff. Q98 Morning Show host Nic Fransoo said this is meant to address rare situations that require action to keep patients alive during transportation..

“Our Battlefords Union Hospital has an incredible staff with all the abilities to do what they can do help you, but they also need that equipment,” he said. “Any donation is going to help move us towards that purchase this year.”

Fransoo added that this equipment makes trips to other hospitals possible, in the rare situation where the level of care is higher that what is currently available at the local hospital

“If they don’t have the equipment we are raising funds for now, they may have a harder time delivering you to that place and keeping you alive as you do so,” he said.

Over the last 30 years, the radiothon’s support has provided of the BUH Foundation with millions of dollars in equipment for the hospital. Fransoo said that donations of any size are welcome and necessary.

“This addition will make the difference between life and death.”
