The report came in from the victim shortly after midnight. While walking down 12th Ave and 109th St., the victim was threatened by one of two suspects, who then made off with the victim’s property, including medication and a cell phone. One of the pair was known to the victim.

One suspect, 21 year-old Karen Checkosis, was later located and arrested without incident, while there are charges pending against the second suspect, a 22 year-old woman from North Battleford.

Checkosis is charged with robbery, obstruction, identity fraud and failing to comply with two probation orders. She made her first court appearance on Tuesday.

The detachment had 17 reports of assault during the service period, one of which involved a carjacking.

Police quickly apprehended 20 year-old Tomaz Baptiste on Saturday on multiple robbery related charges, following a brief pursuit.

An initial report of a robbery on Trudeau Street came in very early March 19, where the victim provided two males a ride from 100th St. to that street. After arriving, the driver exited to offer assistance to the suspects, when one of the males pushed the victim to the ground and took off in the vehicle.

Shortly after police had located the suspect vehicle and given pursuit, 21 year-old Tomaz Baptiste was arrested and charged with flight, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, robbery and driving while prohibited. He was remanded into custody and made his first court appearance on Monday.

Additionally, police handled a case from Tuesday evening, where a 50 year-old man was assaulted during a break-in. That night, officers arrested three men after they reportedly broke into a residence on the 600 block of 103rd St. and assaulted one of the occupants inside.

The victim did not sustain any significant injuries in the incident. The three subjects, aged 39, 40 and 43, remain in custody and the investigation is still ongoing.

Lastly, an employee at a business on Railway Avenue East was reportedly assaulted while attempting to stop a woman from stealing on Tuesday. A 27 year old woman was arrested by police and faces charges of assault and theft. She was since released from custody pending a court date in April on conditions.
