North Stars first round schedule set versus Bombers

The first round of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs is set, and will begin this weekend.

The Battlefords North Stars (35-17-6; 76 points), who finished the regular season fourth overall will play the fifth-place Flin Flon Bombers (34-21-3; 71 points) in the fourth versus fifth matchup, with the opening two games being held this weekend at the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford.

While home games for the Stars will be held at their regularly-scheduled start time of 7:30 p.m., the games on the road in Flin Flon will be held an hour earlier, at 6:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time.

North Stars opening-round playoff schedule:

GM 1: Fri, Mar. 18 Bombers @ North Stars in North Battleford (7:30 start; 7 pm pregame)

GM 2: Sat, Mar. 19 Bombers @ North Stars in North Battleford (7:30 start; 7 pm pregame)

GM 3: Tues, Mar. 22 North Stars @ Bombers in Flin Flon (6:30 start; 6 pm pregame)

GM 4: Wed, Mar. 23 North Stars @ Bombers in Flin Flon (6:30 start; 6 pm pregame)

*GM 5: Fri, Mar. 25 Bombers @ North Stars in North Battleford (7:30 start; 7 pm pregame)

*GM 6: Sun, Mar. 27 North Stars @ Bombers in Flin Flon (6:30 start; 6 pm pregame)

Each of the series’ seven games will be available on the NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast on 1050 CJNB. The Ultra Print Pregame Show will begin 30 minutes prior to puck drop each night.

In other series action, the first place Estevan Bruins (43-10-5; 91 points) will play eighth place Notre Dame Hounds (26-27-5; 57 points); the second place Humboldt Broncos (45-13-0; 90 points) will play seventh La Ronge Ice Wolves (29-24-5; 63 points); and third place Melfort Mustangs (34-15-9; 77 points) will play sixth Yorkton Terriers (29-22-7; 65 points).
