Roadway, sidewalk and trail upgrades pitched for Town of Battleford
There are plans for positive strides on the the town’s sidewalk improvement project in 2019.
Based on Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) John Enns-Wind’s report at council’s last meeting, councillors wants to see a new sidewalk built and other sidewalks repaired, maintained, and replaced.
The CAO said roughly $50,000 could go toward upgrading the first block of the 22nd Street sidewalk is in poor shape and considered “a liability.” He said work on the walkway needs to be completed this year.
He recommended an asphalt overlay at a cost of $26,000. While asphalt is not the preferred choice, he said it is more cost-efficient than concrete which could run at an estimated $140,000 to $200,000, depending on the width of the project.
