RCMP Report Pt. 2: Man charged in multiple investigations
Battlefords RCMP arrested a 22-year-old man in relation to a hit and run, but charged him with numerous additional charges in connection to break and enter incidents.
Steven Parkhurst of North Battleford was originally arrested after police attempted a traffic stop in a parking lot on the north side of the city just before midnight on Jan. 16. He was located in the suspect vehicle of a hit and run reported from 101st St. earlier in the evening, where there were minor injuries to one of the victims. Sgt. Neil Tremblay said members found him sleeping in the parking lot.
“They had him boxed in, woke him up to perform the arrest and he ended up ramming a police vehicle with one of the officers in it,” Tremblay said.
While the accused was able to evade law enforcement for a time, he was later located and arrested. The officer in the rammed car, which took some damage, was unharmed.
