City’s Voyent Alert system being tested Friday

The City of North Battleford plans to test its new Voyent Alert public messaging system on Friday.

The test will give people an opportunity to become more familiar with the notifications they receive through the service in the future.

The city said on its website the notification on Jan. 21 will simply indicate that it’s just a test and that no action is required.

Voyent Alert can send notifications and advisories to subscribers from the city for everything from critical events such as fires, floods and weather issues to planned maintenance work and snow advisories.

Residents who sign up for the free service will get notifications through the Voyent Alert mobile APP, via email, text or Voice Call alerts. People can register to subscribe to the service through the city’s website link here.

Those who wish to receive their notifications through their landlines instead can phone the city and make a request to sign up.

During the upcoming test, people will receive a notification through the service method they signed up for.

The city said the test will allow residents who registered for Voyent Alert to review how they wish to receive these public notifications in the future.

“It is going to be extremely valuable to residents, … whether it be for emergencies, street closures or water disturbance notifications,” city communications administrator Dustin Tungilik MacDonald told battlefordsNOW. “We plan to bring that live this year… We think this is going to be a great way to notify our residents in a timely and efficient manner.”
