Additional victims sought in ongoing sexual assault investigation

Saskatchewan RCMP are looking for additional sexual assault victims that may be from multiple communities in northwest and central Saskatchewan in relation to an active investigation from earlier this year.

Back in September, the Saskatoon Police Sex Crimes Unit issued a media release announcing a charge of sexual assault against 60-year-old Cecil Wolfe. Investigators were concerned there may be other victims and asked anyone with information to contact police.

As a result of further victims coming forward since then, the Saskatoon RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) collaborated with the SPS Sex Crimes Unit. Victims reported the accused was working under the pretext of being a traditional healer or medicine man when they encountered him.

Wolfe is now charged with six additional counts of sexual assault, with one charge from Saskatoon jurisdiction and five from Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction in the communities of Loon Lake and Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. He was released on a court undertaking after his arrest on Dec. 8. and will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Jan. 17 at 2:00 p.m.

Investigators also believe there may be additional victims from over the past twenty years in the communities of Loon Lake, Blaine Lake, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatoon and surrounding areas. As the investigation remains active, victims are encouraged to contact their nearest RCMP detachment or police service if they have information to share.
