Weapons, drugs found during five-person arrest
A report of a firearm being discharged on Red Pheasant Cree Nation resulted in five arrests and the seizure of multiple weapons and drugs.
Police received the call early Tuesday morning, alleging the incident occurred at or near a residence on Red Pheasant. All suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving and the vehicle they fled in was recovered a short time later, where four adult males and one adult female were arrested without incident. According to Sgt. Neil Tremblay, one sawed-off shotgun and two pistols were seized, along with crack cocaine and powder cocaine in amounts usable for trafficking. He added this was a fortunate result for the detachment and the community.
“Despite the fact that the suspects had fled the scene, by being exhaustive in the search, [RCMP members] were able to locate the suspects’ vehicle and we were able to remove three firearms off the street,” he said.
Numerous charges were laid for the five individuals, who Tremblay said the detachment was familiar with. Twenty-one year-old Denver Deschampe and 25 year-old Easton Louis each face 10 charges, while 23 year-old Hart Desmeules has seven weapons and drug possession charges. All three are from North Battleford. Twenty-eight year-old Terry Moosomin of the Mosquito First Nation faces 11 charges and 22 year-old Cher Spyglass of Lloydminster is facing 12 charges.
