A volunteer with the Rosetown Fire Department has died in the line of duty while responding to a collision on Highway 4 Wednesday morning.

RCMP said Darrell James Morrison, 46, was struck by a passing semi while at the scene of a collision between two other semis about 14 miles north of Rosetown. Life-saving efforts were made by his colleagues at the scene. He was then transported to hospital but he died a short time later.

Police said his family has been notified.

No one was injured in the collision between the two semi trucks, according to RCMP, who found one semi was struck by another as it entered Highway 4 from the west and was turning north.
