City gets ready to start 2022 budget deliberations

Nov 9, 2021 | 5:00 PM

North Battleford city council is getting set to start deliberations on city administration’s proposed 2022 budget.

According to City Manager Randy Patrick, council was expected to receive a copy of the draft budget document Nov. 9 while the public should be able to access a copy later in the day on Friday online via the city’s website.

A number of meetings will be scheduled for council to go through the package and make any revisions or additions.

Mayor David Gillan discussed some of the plans at this week’s council meeting.

The first budget deliberation meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15, starting at 5:15 p.m. during the city’s scheduled planning committee meeting. A large portion of the session will be devoted to discussing the budget document.

Following that on Thursday, Nov. 18 there will be another deliberation meeting specifically to focus on budgeting.

“Then, there may be some meetings after that for budget deliberations, but we will announce those at the time,” Gillan said.

Council will have an opportunity to review all the details of the budget draft and make changes where needed before it will eventually decide on passing the budget at a later date.
