Co-accused in Sparvier case sentenced to 2.5 years in prison
The co-accused facing charges related to the death of Braeden Sparvier in January 2020 was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford Thursday, after pleading guilty to accessory after the fact to murder.
When he appeared in court via CCTV, Twobears Bird, 23, pleaded guilty to on or about Dec. 31, 2019 at or near Frenchman Butte, knowing that Shari Heathen had murdered Braeden Sparvier, did assist Heathen for the purpose of enabling her to escape, contrary to the criminal code.
Bird’s charge of manslaughter was withdrawn.
Sparvier’s lifeless, frozen body, was found in a farmer’s field in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Frenchman Butte, west of St. Walburg on Jan. 1, 2020.
