Shawn Moostoos has been taken into custody without incident.

RCMP said the 33-year-old from James Smith Cree Nation was arrested Monday afternoon around 4 p.m. at a residence in Melfort.

An emergency alert and subsequent search for Moostoos began Sunday evening after RCMP reported a shooting within the First Nation. A 37-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from James Smith Cree Nation, died as a result of the incident and a 44-year-old man was transported to hospital with what were described as serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The names of the deceased are not being released, but police confirmed Moostoos and the three victims were known to each other.
