Highway incident north of Lloydminster

UPDATE: As of 4:15 p.m. on Saturday traffic is no longer being re-routed and emergency vehicles have cleared the scene.

Maidstone RCMP were at the scene of a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning, on Highway 17, approximately 5 km north of Lloydminster.

RCMP said in a media release around 8:40 a.m. the highway was blocked in both directions and traffic is being re-routed for an undetermined amount of time. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and to follow traffic directions given by officers on scene. Motorists are also reminded to slow down to 60 km/hr when passing emergency vehicles.

Lloydminster Rescue Squad, local EMS and fire department are also on scene to assist. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is en route to investigate.
