Man hospitalized following North Battleford motorcycle collision

Jun 2, 2021 | 11:57 AM

Traffic was significantly altered yesterday evening on Territorial Drive in North Battleford, following an accident at the intersection of Clements Drive that left one male injured and in hospital.

Battlefords RCMP and EMS were on the scene of a collision between a car and a motorcycle that occurred around 5:00 p.m. According to Kent Manning, a friend of the male rider of the motorcycle, the man is now in a Saskatoon hospital due to his injuries and will undergo multiple surgeries. The occupants of the car appeared to be uninjured and the scene was cleared a short while later.

Staff Sgt. Jason Teniuk of Battlefords RCMP said this is the first accident at that intersection this year. There were 16 accidents between 2018 and 2019, before only one occurred in 2020.

“I think the pandemic had a lot to do with that,” Teniuk said. “There was a lot less traffic in the community. But before 2018 had nine, there also a lot less accidents at that intersection.”

Between 2013-2017, Territorial/Clements Drive had eight traffic collisions. No other details on Tuesday evening’s incident are available at this time.

This article originally stated the male rider of the motorcycle sustained minor injuries. We have since been made aware that his injuries were more severe and apologize for the error.
