Capitol Theatre reopens to public

May 28, 2021 | 3:26 PM

The Capitol Theatre will welcome back moviegoers this evening.

After being closed for more than a month, patrons can check out showings for three films this weekend, including the Disney film Cruella, the video game adaptation Mortal Kombat and the horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II. Showtimes will only take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the theatre being closed during the week for the time being.

The doors have been closed since early April, when the theatre staff said on a Facebook post it was due to safety concerns, adding that they felt disrespected by some patrons not following protocols.

Theatres across the globe have suffered huge finanical losses during the pandemic, due to restrictions and studios pulling films from release. A Quiet Place Part II was originally scheduled for March 20, 2020.

The reopening also comes after the announcement that Theatre manager Ursula Swindler will be leaving her position at the end of July. Other positions at the theatre are reportedly open as well.

More information, including showtimes, can be found online.
