Two of accused in Moosomin homicide investigation seeking bail

Two of the individuals facing charges related to the death of Damian Moosomin last year are seeking bail.

Stormy Wapass-Semaganis is facing a charge of first degree murder in the case.

Lawyer Andrew Lyster, on behalf of defence lawyer Bill Archer, said in North Battleford provincial court Wednesday that ultimately the defence counsel is looking at having a bail hearing in the Court of Queen’s Bench.

A bail supervision and verification report was ordered for Wapass-Semaganis in North Battleford court.

The case has been adjourned to June 9 at 11:30 a.m. to be spoken to.

Melissa Semaganis, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, is also seeking bail.

Her defence lawyer said during North Battleford court Wednesday that she will attempt to have a bail hearing at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford this week if possible.

Melissa Semaganis’s case has been adjourned to May 27 at 11:30 a.m. to be spoken to in North Battleford court.

Damian Moosomin, 20, was found deceased in the backyard of a property in the 1500 block of 105 Street in North Battleford on May 16, 2020. He was originally reported missing to police May 11 of that year.

The allegations against the accused individuals have not been proven in court.
