Accessory charge replaced with manslaughter in Sparvier murder case

Charges have been upgraded in the Braeden Sparvier murder investigation.

Twobears Bird, 22, was originally charged with accessory to murder after the fact. According to court records, the charge has now been replaced with manslaughter. The reasons why have not been discussed.

The co-accused, Shari Heathen, was charged with second degree murder.

At this stage of the court proceedings, none of the charges have been proven in court and the RCMP investigation is still ongoing. Bird’s matters have been adjourned to May 17 at Lloydminster Provincial Court, while Heathen’s matters will be spoken to on May 25.

Saskatchewan RCMP first received word on January 1, 2020 of a deceased male, outside a rural location in the R.M. of Frenchman Butte, west of St. Walburg.

Two days later, Sparvier, who was living at Onion Lake Cree Nation, was identified as the victim and his death was ruled to be a homicide.
