Dekker Centre, Battlefords Untapped continue live-stream team

The Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts and Battlefords Untapped are continuing their collberation to host live-stream concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following cancellations in their 2020 lineup of shows, the Dekker Centre partnered with the local podcast hosted by Matt Jacques, in order to feature local artists in the Battlefords and surrounding area.

‘On Dekk—Presented by Battlefords Untapped’ has each monthly episode start with an interview where the artists talk about what it means to be an artist working and living in this community. This is then immediately followed by a live performance on the Dekker Centre stage.

General manager Kali Weber said the project is about spotlighting homegrown talent, adding that they’ve been pleased with the product so far. The project is meant specifically to help keep local arts alive during times like this.

“Since restrictions are so tight, doing an all-digital program allows us to meet our mandate of providing professional arts experiences to our community,” Weber said. “We can’t wait to get back to normal, but this has been a nice way to do what our mission is and highlight local artists.”

So far, there have been three performances with the next episode coming up featuring the local rock band ‘Feedback’. The group consists of the Arcand siblings—Aaron, Allison, and Bryan.

Later this summer, Weber said they hope that they will be able to organize some outdoor events.

“That’s what we’re working on now as the weather gets warmer and the outdoor gathering restrictions shift,” she said.

The ‘Feedback’ episode will go up at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30. For more information on the event or how to purchase tickets, go to www.dekkercentre.com.
