RM of Meota grass fire leads to ban

Apr 12, 2021 | 4:24 PM

The RM of Meota No. 468 has imposed a total fire ban, due to dry conditions.

This comes one day after the Meota Volunteer Fire Department was called to a large grass fire on Sunday, just north of an oil steam plant. According to the department’s Facebook page, the call came in shortly after noon, while approximately 40 acres were burning.

Fighting the fire required all of the volunteer fire department’s equipment and full roster of fire fighters. They also had aid from the RM of North Battleford, who provided a water truck and a back up crew, as well as the oil company at the plant. Crews fighting the fire were finished shortly before 7 p.m.
