Police have determined the death of a young boy in Canora in November was a murder.

On Nov. 21, police arrived at a house in town after hearing about a child needing urgent medical attention.

Despite efforts to revive him, the child died at the scene.

The boy has been identified as Lorenzo Cote from the Cote First Nation in Kamsack. He was 21 months old.

According to a news release from the RCMP, officers have made “significant progress” in the investigation.

It says police have interviewed numerous people and collected surveillance footage from multiple locations “to establish a clear timeline of the events on the day of his death.”

As well, police say warrants have been executed and multiple locations have been examined forensically.

The news release did not mention any arrests or suspects.
