Edam committee meets $150K goal

Aug 4, 2018 | 2:00 PM

A fundraising commitee in northwest Saskatchewan has done the seemingly impossible, raising $150,000 in just over seven months.

The Edam playground committee received its final cheque on Friday. Playground Commitee Chair Cheri Frey said she was overwhelmed by the support they received.

“Just proud to be from a community like this one who can just see the need and step up,” she said.

The school division informed the committee last June the old playgrond at the school was no longer safe for use.

“It was 30 years old and it needed to be replaced and they had scheduled to have it removed this summer,” Frey said.

Shortly thereafter the committee came up with a plan to builld a new playground, and the fundraising efforts started last January. The new equipment was installed last week with the help of local voluneteers and parents.
