Battlefords RCMP are renewing their plea to the public for assistance in a homicide investigation, related to a structure fire on January 19.

The fire at an abandoned residence located north of the Junction of Highways 687 and 378 (30 kilometres northeast of North Battleford) led to the investigation which found remains of a deceased individual. A forensic autopsy took place in Saskatoon on Thursday, after which the scene of the incident was released. Based on initial information and investigative work completed thus far, RCMP believe the human remains are that of a young, adult male.

The detachment is reiterating its request of residents to come forward with any information relating to the incident or suspicious activity in that area the evening of January 19. Anyone who has information can contact Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

RCMP units are continuing to work together in the investigation and confirm a positive identification of the deceased.
