Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Battlefords area
Anyone heading out on the road today will want to note a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the Battlefords and surrounding area.
Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for a severe thunderstorm, which could include strong wind gusts, hail, and heavy rain. The thunderstorm watch issued for northwest Saskatchewan includes the R.M. of North Battleford, the R.M. of Meota including the Battlefords Provincial Park area, and the R.M. of Battle River including Sweet Grass and Delmas. There is also a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the R.M. of Cut Knife, the Edam, Vawn, and Turtleford areas, Glenside north of Biggar, as well as the Wilkie area.
The thunderstorm threat is expected to end late Monday evening, Environment Canada said.
Elsewhere in the province Prince Albert, La Ronge, Meadow Lake, and Waterhen Lake First Nation are under severe thunderstorm warnings.
