Councillor Susan McLean Tady was recognized for her years of dedication during the final meeting of the Town of Battleford council Monday night.

In total she served 11 years on council.

McLean Tady, who is not seeking re-election, said thank you to council and staff in her parting speech.

“Fellow councillors it’s been a pleasure serving this last term with you all. Lots of big ticket items we’ve dealt with, lots of controversy. But I think our hearts have always been in the right spot,” she said.

Mayor Ames Leslie said McLean Tady served as a source of knowledge to council.

“I think you have taught many of us … many things – to be better at our jobs and strive to make the town better,” he said.

The remaining five councillors – Shelley Boutin-Gervais, Doug Laing, Judy Pruden, Kevin Russell and Gordon Yarde are all seeking re-election. Ames Leslie was acclaimed as mayor.

Council also took the opportunity to remind the public advance polls will be held at the Alex Dillabough Centre on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Election day is Nov. 9, with voting at the same location from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In total, 11 candidates are seeking the five councillor seats.
