She-NANIGANS to celebrate Oktoberfest this weekend

Oct 2, 2020 | 12:47 PM

The She-NANIGANS performing arts centre in North Battleford will be hosting a celebration of the season this weekend, with their first-ever Oktoberfest.

Taking place Saturday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m., the festivities will include a table service five-course Bavarian feast, complimented with specially Sask.-crafted, German Marzen beer.

Musical entertainment will also be featured, courtesy of The Old Timers Band. Playing several old-time polka-style ballads to set the tone for the evening, the Old Timers will provide a fitting oompah ambience to underlay the celebration.

Glennda Ilett with She-NANIGANS, said she encourages those craving a night out on the town, in a safe but fun space, to come and take part in the celebration, which is all about bringing community together.

“Just to experience the comraderie and have some fun, that’s what it’s for,” she said. “Oktoberfest is all about celebrating the harvest and this time of year, and getting together and just having a great time, so hopefully we’re going to have that atmosphere.”

Ilett said that feeling of community is as important now as ever, adding that She-NANIGANS hopes to host more cultural celebrations in the future, celebrating many diverse backgrounds within the region.

“We would like to actually get a lot of different cultural events going, just highlighting the diversity of the cultures in North Battleford and area,” she said. “We have so many different immigration groups here, it would be nice to celebrate all of their important events from their original countries.”

Those wishing to attend Oktoberfest this weekend are asked to call ahead to book their socially distanced table grouping. To learn more, contact She-Nanigans Performance Art Theatre.
